Welcome to Ocean Beach
All are welcome to this funky vintage beach town, including surfers, skaters, and furry friends.
With an eccentric vibe, Ocean Beach is just north of Point Loma and is a favorite among locals who spend their days surfing, sunbathing around the pier, hanging out in their vintage VW vans, and strolling through the many local shops in the historic business district.
The Ocean Beach Pier is a popular local fishing spot with sweeping views. The weekly Ocean Beach Farmers’ Market is well known for its live music, local art, and organic fare.
What You Can Expect
A throw-back groovy vibe of a vintage beach town with a welcoming atmosphere. Friendly locals, great dining and microbrews, and a vibrant nightlife.
Ocean Beach is casual and slow-paced. You can spend the day surfing, sunbathing, strolling through the many surf shops, taco stands, and antique malls.
Take a walk or fish on the pier, one of the longest piers extending a half-mile into the sea. Your furry friend will love to visit Dog Beach, where pets are not only allowed on the beach but off-leash and free to run along with other furry friends.
What Not to Expect
While charming and casual don’t expect to find gourmet restaurants of cosmopolitan nightlife.
Ocean Beach is filled with beach cottages and small condominium buildings near the water and single-family homes up in the hills and in the more upscale Sunset Cliffs neighborhood, some with sweeping views of the ocean and the cliffs.
